Platts to specify location basis for Lithium Carbonate CIF North Asia assessment

S&P Global Platts has decided to specify the location basis for the Platts Lithium Carbonate CIF North Asia assessment as CIF Shanghai, China, effective August 7, 2020.

The decision comes as a result of a proposal to the market published on June 24 in a subscriber note available here: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/062420-sampp-global-platts-proposes-to-specify-the-location-basis-for-the-lithium-carbonate-cif-north-asia-assessment.

Platts will continue to reflect the cargoes delivered into other North Asian ports, such as in Japan and South Korea, in the assessment, after normalizing to the stated basis port.

Freight and quality differentials for lithium carbonate cargoes delivered to different north Asian ports, as well as the spreads and dynamics between different regions may be considered in the normalization process.
