Platts is amending its Bakken Williston crude assessment (AAXPP00) methodology July 8 in light of the potential shutdown of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) on August 5.
The Bakken Williston assessment has reflected the value of Bakken crude for injection into DAPL.
With DAPL potentially out of service beginning early next month, the Bakken Williston assessment will reflect the value of Bakken crude for injection into other Williston Basin pipelines including the Enbridge system via the Beaver Lodge injection point, among others.
If DAPL returns to normal operation in the future, it would once again serve as the basis for the Bakken Williston assessment.
Platts will also be reviewing its Bakken USGC Pipe assessment if a DAPL shutdown happens and impacts available supply at the Nederland/Beaumont trading hub.
