Platts launches daily India solar module price assessments July 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched daily India solar module price assessments, effective July 1.

Solar PV module manufacturing capacity in India has reached 50 GW, according to the International Energy Agency's Electricity 2025 report, as the country targets 500 GW of renewable power capacity by 2030. Market participants have noted an increasing need for transparent pricing in this growing market.

The price assessments reflect modules with 520-680 W output for PERC specification and 570-720 W output for TOPCon specification, with wafer sizes ranging from 182-210 mm, applicable for contract volumes between 5-50 MW.

The assessments are published as outright prices on a FOB India basis and reflect modules scheduled for shipment seven to 30 days forward from the basis location, Mundra. The prices are published in US cents per watt and in Indian rupees per watt.

The assessments reflect an Indian time stamp (1630 IST) and follow the Platts India publishing schedule.

Market information reported to Platts is published throughout the day, including firm bids and offers, trades and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.

Platts may normalize information with differing specifications heard in the market to meet the assessment specifications. Normalization brings market information in line with the Platts assessed specifications.

Platts India solar module assessments appear in Platts European Power Daily, Platts Megawatt Daily and Platts REC Daily.

Please note that the Platts Global Solar Marker (AMOGA00) has been recalculated to include India TOPCon. The new Global Solar Market formula is an arithmetical average of the 5-50 MW TOPCon specification assessments for China, Europe, India and the US.
