Platts proposes to replace EC Spot Auction data with daily carbon inputs

S&P Global Platts is proposing to replace existing quarterly carbon spot auction prices as an input for its Dutch and UK hydrogen valuations with newly launched daily Platts carbon pricing data.

Platts launched June 18 assessments for the EU Emission Trading System and UK Emission Trading Scheme, commonly referred to as EUAs and UKAs. The newly launched assessments would feed into the Netherlands Hydrogen Steam Methane Reforming and UK Hydrogen Autothermal Reforming assessments. The existing carbon spot price PCECB00 would be replaced with EU Emission Allowance Nearest December (EADLP00) and UK Emission Allowance Nearest December (AIDUK00), respectively. The change would take effect August 2, 2021.
