05 Jul 2018 | 07:43 UTC — Washington
Washington (Platts)--5Jul2018/343 pm EDT/1943 GMT As part of its commitment to maintaining open dialog with all interested parties, S&P Global Platts is hosting a Midwest aluminum methodology workshop on July 17, in Chicago, Illinois, starting at 9 am CDT.
The complimentary workshop will focus on the following topics:
* Platts' current methodology for assessing the US Midwest Aluminum Transaction Premium
* Recent developments in the value of the Midwest aluminum markets
* Interest in the potential publication of "duty unpaid" values for the US Midwest market
* Potential normalization procedures for index-linked, or spot formula, deals based on Platts Transaction Price
As a result, Platts is extending the formal market consultation on its proposal to launch a "duty unpaid" US Midwest value until July 20.
The goal of the workshop is to gather feedback from all stakeholders and interested parties regarding Platts' current price assessments and methodology, and the potential for new assessments.
Any subsequent amendments or additions to Platts' aluminum price assessments would follow normal editorial standards, including a formal proposal, feedback, and review process.
Discussion will be conducted under Chatham House Rules.
Attendees are welcome to propose additional topics to be considered for inclusion in the workshop. Please send all questions and feedback to Platts_Aluminum@spglobal.com with a cc to pricegroup@spglobal.com.
