Platts has, on July 1, 2011, launched a daily assessment for ethanol meeting German specifications (German spec). This assessment is for T2 product (duty paid) basis FOB Rotterdam in Euro/cubic meters.
The assessment reflects ethanol that holds sustainability certificates issued by any certification system recognized by the German Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (Bundesanstalt fuer Landwirtschaft und Ernaehrung, or BLE.)
Following further discussions with industry participants, Platts wishes to clarify in its European ethanol methodology that should the European Commission approve any supranational sustainability certification systems - known as voluntary schemes - those systems will also be taken into account in the assessment process for Platts German-spec ethanol, provided these schemes are also approved by the BLE.
