SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to update maximum Total Sulfur content in JKM LNG specification

S&P Global Platts is proposing to define the maximum Total Sulfur content of published bids, offers and other transactional data considered in its benchmark JKM LNG price assessments, with effect from September 2, 2019.

This change would apply to bids, offers and trades for cargoes being delivered to ports in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China (JKTC) published during the Market on Close assessment process.

Under this proposal, the maximum Total Sulfur content reflected in Platts JKM would be defined as 5mg/Nm3. Platts would only reflect bids, offers and trades for cargoes being delivered to ports in JKTC with Total Sulfur of 5mg/Nm3 or less.

Platts JKM assessments would continue to reflect cargoes with a GHV of 1030-1130 Btu/Scf. Platts may normalize for quality specifications with different ranges. Platts has received informal feedback from market participants that cargoes with a Total Sulfur content of greater than 5mg/Nm3 are not regularly delivered into receiving terminals in JKTC.
