Following extensive market feedback, S&P Global Platts has launched 10 new Box Rate spot container assessments on Monday, July 3, 2017.
The new daily assessments reflect the freight prices of carrying forty-foot equivalent (FEU) containers on selected front-haul and back-haul routes.
Alongside the new assessments, Platts has also launched the Platts Container Index, which is based upon a weighted average of the 10 spot routes that Platts assesses.
The percentages have been derived from Platts cFlow analysis, based on AIS data tracking ship movements between regions.
The percentages in the weighted average will undergo regular revisions.
The new assessments reflect established global container trade routes and are based on modern container carrier tonnage.
The assessments are published on a $/FEU basis, to reflect how these routes are traded. The full list of new assessments is shown below.
