Houston (Platts)--2Jul2018/205 pm EDT/1805 GMT Following a period of industry consultation and feedback, S&P Global Platts launched a dirty tanker assessment to reflect the Brazil/Uruguay to China route in response to changing trade flows, effective July 2, 2018.
The tanker assessment was first proposed in a subscriber note published April 27, 2018 (https://www.platts.com/subscriber-notesdetails/10388624)
The assessment reflects the rising volume of crude exports from Brazil to China, where they make up an ever increasing share of total imports. The assessment will be published on a Worldscale basis and will be expressed as Worldscale points. Platts will also publish the equivalent $/mt value for this assessment.
The assessment reflects the Brazil/Uruguay to China route for a Very Large Crude Carrier carrying a cargo of 260,000 mt. The assessment reflects loadings in Brazil at Angra dos Reis and discharge at Dalian, Rizhao and Ningbo in China. Additionally, loadings from Uruguay off Delta Zone and discharge at Rizhao, Qingdao and Ningbo in China are reflected in the assessment.
The symbols are as follows: Brazil/Uruguay-China VLCC 260kt $/mt: TDAUL00 Brazil/Uruguay-China VLCC 260kt $/mt MAvg: TDAUL03 Brazil/Uruguay-China VLCC 260kt Wsc: TDAUK00 Brazil/Uruguay-China VLCC 260kt Wsc MAvg: TDAUK03
