Platts increases export duties on biodiesel FOB Argentina assessment July 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has increased the Argentina export duty on soybean oil to 31% from 24.5% and the Argentina export duty on biodiesel to 29% from 23%, in line with Argentine regulations.

This aligns with established methodology, which states that Platts will update export duty values in the formula upon any changes from the Argentine government, as tracked in the Boletín Oficial de la República Argentina. Platts will notify the market of any changes through subscriber notes.

These updated duties are reflected in the Platts daily calculated assessment for biodiesel exported from Argentina (AARGA00).

The Argentine government temporarily reduced these export duties in 2024, with the reductions expiring on June 30. As a result, the higher duty rates come back into effect immediately after that date.

The affected assessment reflects FOB Up River bulk cargoes, typically around 30,000 mt, intended for the export market.

This assessment follows the Platts Argentina publishing schedule and is available in the Platts price database, in the Biofuelscan report, as well as on Platts Biofuels Alert and Platts Connect.
