Platts discontinues publishing Magdalena crude assessment

S&P Global Platts has discontinued publishing assessments for Colombia's Magdalena crude, effective July 1, 2021, due to a lack of spot market trading activity.

Platts understands there is no spot market trade of Magdalena with all production sold through contracts and consumed domestically in Colombia.

Magdalena has not been exported since 2017, according to sources.

The discontinuation will affect the following codes:

Outright Diff to Date Brent Strip Diff to Brent Strip Diff to WTI Strip

Magdalena AAWFR00 AAXBL00 AAXCA00 AAWFS00

Magdalena (mavg) AAWFR03 AAXBL03 AAXCA03 AAWFS03

The prices will no longer appear on Platts Global Alert pages 280 and 281 and in Latin Wire, Crude Oil Marketwire and Oilgram Price Report.
