In light of recent price developments in the oil market, Platts is reviewing the sulfur de-escalator applied to its North Sea Forties assessments.
Crude oil prices have doubled in 2009 and the spread between sweet and sour crude oil grades has narrowed, prompting the need for this review.
Platts will issue editorial guidance on any revision applied to the de-escalator used in its North Sea crude oil assessments in a timely manner after the end of the feedback process, along with guidance on the method of application.
The current level for the sulfur de-escalator stands at $0.20/b for every 0.1% sulfur over an established standard of 0.6%.
Send any comments and suggestions by close of business on Tuesday, June 23 to europe_crude@platts.com and pricegroup@platts.com.
