S&P Global Platts confirms that it will publish two new daily Supramax dry bulk grains freight time charter equivalents, reflecting the growing trade for grains from the Black Sea to Southeast Asia and from South America to China, effective July 1, 2019. The launch of assessments for these routes follows feedback to S&P Global Platts' proposal, published on May 23, 2019.
The time charter equivalents reflect market rates for two increasingly liquid trade routes as grains exports from the Black Sea and South America comprise a larger proportion of the Supramax dry freight sector. The new routes round out Platts' Supramax time charter equivalent coverage, and complement its existing suite of dry freight TCEs.
The TCE assessment reflects the $/day pricing derived from the respective voyage rates published on a $/mt basis in Dry Freight Wire.
The following new assessments will be:
Yuzhny, Ukraine, to Cigading, Indonesia, 50,000 mt grains, vessel delivery Canakkale, Turkey
Santos, Brazil, to Qingdao, China, 50,000 mt grains, vessel delivery Gibraltar
The assessments will be based on modern Supramax tonnage and will reflect the cost of transporting a 50,000 mt (plus/minus 10%) grains cargo on a 57,000 dwt Supramax dry bulk vessel from delivery port to loading port and then to discharge port and will be published on a dollar per day basis.
