SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts delays implementation of change to US ethylene delivery timing

Platts is extending the comment period regarding the proposed change of delivery timing basis for the US ethylene spot assessment until July 15, 2014.

Platts proposes to change the basis for the US ethylene assessments from a three- to 30-day basis to current delivery month (M1) and a next delivery month (M2).

This proposal was first announced April 25, 2014.

Based on market feedback, the three- to 30-day timing window is no longer reflective of the US olefins spot market, as the primary delivery mechanism for ethylene in the US is via pipeline, and follows pipeline scheduling. Based on industry feedback regarding pipeline delivery scheduling, Platts proposes that current delivery month roll into next delivery month three calendar days prior to the end of the month. If this day falls on a weekend or holiday, Platts will roll its US olefins assessments to the next month on the next business day.
