Platts proposes to amend the density specifications reflected in its assessments of FOB NWE Low Sulfur Straight Run (LSSR) 0.5-0.7% sulfur cargoes, starting from January 2, 2017.
Platts currently assesses FOB NWE LSSR meeting the specifications of 0.935-0.950 at 15 degrees centigrade. This proposal would amend the density reflected by Platts to 0.920-0.950 at 15 degrees centigrade.
A conversion factor between barrels and metric tons of 6.77 would continue to be used following the change, in line with prevailing market standards.
Platts has analyzed the density of a range of LSSR streams in the region and concluded that the proposed density represents more fully the underlying physical market.
Platts is seeking feedback on the assessed density, and the timing of this suggested change.
