S&P Global Platts proposes to align the timing specifications of metallurgical coal assessments across varying grades, effective Sept. 14, 2021.
Platts proposes that all FOB Australia metallurgical coal assessments will represent cargoes loading in 7-60 days, and delivery timing for the assessments with CFR China incoterms to delivery in 20-75 days. Currently the timing specifications of FOB Australia assessments represent cargoes loading 7-45 days, and delivery timing for the assessments with CFR China incoterms to delivery in 20-65 days.
The change of timing specification of assessment aims to better align the loading and delivery timing of various metallurgical coal price assessments with the specifications of Platts Premium Low Vol HCC FOB Australia and Platts Premium Low Vol HCC CFR China defined in Platts methodology. On April 1, 2021, timing specifications of PLV FOB Australia assessments were adjusted to represent cargoes loading 7-60 days, and delivery timing for the assessments with CFR China incoterms to delivery in 20-75 days. Affected price series:
The assessments are published in SBB Steel Markets Daily, Coal Trader International, on the real-time Platts Steel, Raw Materials Alert on fixed pages 1064, 205, 1051, 1062, and in the Platts price database under the symbols mentioned above.
