SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes discontinuing wood pellet assessments/spreads

Platts is proposing to discontinue its weekly CIF NW Europe industrial wood pellet assessments and associated pellet spread calculations that run in Coal Trader International, Coal Trader, European Power Daily and Power in Europe.

The challenging environment for securing subsidies for biomass-powered generation means that growth prospects for the wood pellet market are so limited that it is likely to remain a small segment of the power-generation fuel mix.
