Following a period of industry feedback, Platts has decided to launch CFR Brazil assessments for the Latin American polymer markets on July 5, 2011.
The proposed assessments will be for low density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), high density polyethylene injection (HDPE inj), high density polyethylene blowmolding (HDPE bmldg), high density polyethylene film (HDPE film), polypropylene (inj and copolymer) and PVC.
The assessments will reflect product on a CFR basis into the port of Santos, excluding duty. Deliveries into the port of Paranagua will be normalized to CFR Santos.
These assessments will be in $/mt and would denote spot transactions of 250-500 mt lots, for delivery 20-40 days forward from the date of publication with credit of 90 days. Platts may normalize for assessment purposes those transactions, bids or offers that deviate from standard terms and conditions.
The proposed weekly assessments will be published on the Platts real-time Petrochemical Alert as well as the weekly Polymerscan.
