(Updates with further explanation) Platts will launch "Follow-the-Sun" oil forward curve products on July 1, 2013. This new product will provide updated regional derivatives assessments at key market closings around the world for existing refined products assessments in Singapore, London and New York. Each new PFC Oil assessment "follows the sun," to establish values at the MOC timestamps when each regional market is not observable. For example, Singapore fuel oil forward curves will continue to be assessed at the close of markets in Asia, as they are today. "Follow-the-Sun" Singapore fuel oil forward curves will be generated at the close of markets in Europe, and later at the close of markets in the US. Existing European curves will be updated at the US close and the Asia close. Existing US curves will be updated at the Asian close and the European close. The new launch date is to ensure Platts serves the marketplace with a robust and in-depth product. Please send comments or questions to your local Platts customer care representative, or email support@platts.com and copy pl_DataQA@platts.com.
