Platts launches recycled polyethylene terephthalate assessments in Mexico

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, launched new daily spot recycled PET post-consumer bottle bales and clear flakes price assessments for Central Mexico, effective June 3.

The new assessments are further additions to Platts existing suite of recycled polymers price assessments, adding further depth and granularity to the Platts market coverage across different regions.

The terms and specifications of the new assessments are as follows:

Specifications Post-consumer clear bottle bales with a minimum PET content of 95% Clear hot-washed flake, derived from 100% post-consumer recycled content, with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.72-0.78 dl/g and a PVC content no higher than 50 ppm

The assessments reflect pricing information for ex-works Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, Puebla, Queretaro, Hidalgo, and Guanajuato, where Platts currently observes price consistency and will reflect spot prices at 4 pm CST daily and follow the Brazil publication calendar.
