Platts replaces 3Pi European PPA indices

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has replaced its Power Purchase Agreement index series (3Pi) based on a new methodology that will leverage PPA intelligence gathered from the market and our renewables analytical datasets, effective June 2, 2025.

Details of the new indexes are as follows:

The new indices are based on wholesale forward electricity market data, renewable capture rates, guarantees of origin certification values, and risk premium assessments. PPA transactions and other market data are considered to inform the index calculation.

They cover the same specifications as the 3Pi series -- 10-year onshore wind and solar for Spain and Germany.

The indices are available in European Power Daily, REC Daily and fixed pages PEP0101, PEP0102, CLE0101 and CLE0102.

The new indices were proposed in a subscriber note published April 7, available here(opens in a new tab).
