SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes discontinuing European VGO barge assessments

In line with changing trade flows of high sulfur vacuum gasoil (HSVGO) and low sulfur vacuum gasoil (LSVGO) in Europe, S&P Global Platts proposes to discontinue its FOB Rotterdam VGO barge assessments, effective January 2, 2018.

Platts currently publishes two assessments of FOB Rotterdam VGO barges: an HSVGO assessment of 2% max sulfur and a LSVGO assessment of 0.5-0.6% max sulfur.

The proposed discontinuation is part of a suite of proposed changes to Platts assessments of VGO, which also include the launch of FOB Black Sea and CIF Mediterranean assessments for both LSVGO and HSVGO, and the rebasing of the FOB NWE assessment to a FOB Baltic Sea assessment.

Following this proposed discontinuation, Platts would publish no assessments of European VGO barges.

Platts is requesting feedback on all aspects of this proposal. Please send all comments by June 23, 2017, to europe_crude@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com.
