Platts changes methodology for carbon neutral LNG assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has changed the carbon intensity (CI) numbers used for Platts carbon neutral LNG (CNL) assessments currently published in Platts LNG Daily and Platts LNG Alert page 3000, effective June 1, 2022.

Platts first proposed the change in a subscriber note published on April 5, 2022: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/040522-s-p-global-proposes-to-change-methodology-for-carbon-neutral-lng-assessments.

The current methodology will be a monthly modeled calculation provided by S&P Global Commodity Insights Analytics. The previous methodology represented an editorially-estimated CI number using a volume weighted average of all Australian liquefaction projects. The CNL assessments have retained a daily publication schedule.

The affected assessments are:

CNL WTT JKTC(ex-Australia) Differential ACNLB00

CNL WTT JKTC(ex-Australia) Cumulative Monthly Average ACNLD03

CNL WTW JKTC(ex-Australia) Differential ACNLF00

CNL WTW JKTC(ex-Australia) Cumulative Monthly Average ACNLH03

CNL DES JKTC(ex-Australia) Differential ACNLG00

CNL DES JKTC(ex-Australia) Cumulative Monthly Average ACNLI03

CNL Combustion JKTC ACNLJ00
