Following a period of industry consultation and feedback, S&P Global Platts has launched a new Supramax dry bulk freight assessment reflecting the trade route of limestone from Persian Gulf to India. This assessment was first proposed by Platts in a subscriber note published on March 8, 2016.
The new assessment reflects the growing spot fixture activity basis loading at Mina Saqr, UAE, as Indian limestone consumers increase their requirements from the Persian Gulf.
The assessment is based on modern Supramax dry bulk tonnage reflecting the route from Mina Saqr, UAE, to Paradip, East Coast India, for a Supramax vessel carrying a limestone cargo of 50,000 mt (plus/minus 10%).
The assessment has freight differentials to loading in Salalah, Oman, and discharging in Chennai, East Coast India. The assessment is published on a dollar per metric ton basis.
The new assessment can be found in the S&P Global Platts Dry Freight Wire.
