Platts to assess hard coking coal, CFR India

Platts invites feedback by June 8 on plans to launch on July 5 daily spot price assessments of Hard Coking Coal CFR India. Cargo assessments will consider standard shipments of 10,000 mt or above, for delivery CFR India (into main ports Paradip, Vizag and Haldia) from any source 21-60 days from date of publication.

Spot cargoes will be assessed within published quality ranges, and normalized to published Platts specifications for Hard Coking Coal. Platts normalizes for coke strength after reaction (CSR), volatile matter (VM), impurities (sulfur, ash, phosphorous) and moisture on a $/mt basis using assessments of prevailing market value for quality premia and penalties.

Close-of-market data for CFR India spot price assessments will be 18:30 Singapore time (1030 GMT), coinciding with Platts other daily coking coal and dry bulk freight assessments. These assessments will be published in Platts Metals Alert page 1051, Steel Markets Daily, Coal Trader International, International Coal Report, and Platts Dispatch. More details can be found in the published methodology guide:
