Platts proposes Hungarian natural gas price assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to launch daily natural gas price assessments basis Hungarian Virtual Trading Hub (MGP) reflecting the day-ahead and month-ahead contracts and a weekly assessment of the hub's weekend contract, effective July 18.

The launch of the Hungarian natural gas market assessments would capture increasing liquidity on Hungarian natural gas contracts following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The launch would also align with market feedback requesting pricing transparency for the region and strengthen existing coverage of other Central and Eastern European hubs, such as Austrian CEGH VTP, Czech VTP, and Slovak VTP.

The price assessments would reflect the physical gas price for the following delivery periods:

Daily assessments: MGP day-ahead-delivery contract, MGP month-ahead-delivery contract

Weekly assessment: MGP weekend-delivery contract (Friday only)

Hungarian MGP prices would be assessed in Eur/MWh and would be converted into $/MMBtu, pence/therm and Eur/GJ using Platts published conversion factors: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/PlattsContent/assets/files/en/conversiontables/conversion_factors.pdf and foreign exchange rates at the time of the assessment.

The assessments would reflect a 4:30 pm London timestamp and would follow the UK publishing schedule.

Platts publication schedule can be found here: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/holiday.

Platts would publish the MGP assessments in the Natural Gas news wire, and in the European Gas Daily publication alongside its existing EMEA natural gas markets coverage.
