Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has added a new Transco, station 65, daily (IGBIE00) and monthly (IGBIE03) natural gas index.
Platts has left the existing Transco, zone 3 (IGBBV00), methodology unchanged.
This new location launch follows a period of market consultation, published proposal with a request for feedback and a subsequent decision note published on May 2, 2023, which can be found at: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/050223-platts-to-add-new-transco-station-65-natural-gas-index.
The methodology for the new location is as follows: Transco, station 65 (daily and monthly market) Transactions at Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line's station 65 pooling point on the Louisiana-Mississippi border in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana. The Transco, zone 3, methodology includes deliveries into the Transcontinental Pipeline between compressor station 45 to station 65.
Market participants have reported bilateral discounted trades at locations west of station 65. At times, the prices of these trades have been much lower than other trades at zone 3. Going forward, Platts will continue to include these discounted trades in the Transco, zone 3, index, unless deemed as an outlier. Trades at station 65 will be included in both indices. As with all Platts locations, trades at both Transco, zone 3, and Transco, station 65, will be reviewed for outliers in the final daily and monthly indices.
This change will be effective as of trade date May 31 for flow date June 1 for the daily index and May 24 for the monthly index, the first trading day of June bidweek.
The current natural gas methodology can be found at: /content/dam/spglobal/ci/en/documents/platts/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/US_Canada_Gas.pdf
