Platts to discontinue eight US Renewable Energy Certificates assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has decided to discontinue eight US Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) price assessments, effective Aug. 1.

Platts has decided to discontinue these assessments due to a lack of liquidity in the markets for each REC.

This follows a proposal note published on May 7, available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/050724-platts-proposes-discontinuation-of-nine-us-renewable-energy-certificates-assessments .

However, Platts has decided not to discontinue its assessment of Vermont REC Tier 1 Previous Year following market consultation.

The assessments affected are as follows:

In addition, the corresponding abatement value and emissions adjusted REC for Maryland REC Tier 1 Non Black Liquor Current Year Vintage would also be discontinued:
