Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will change the specifications for urea ammonium nitrate and ammonium nitrate FOB Baltic, as well as the AN FOB Baltic/Black Sea nitrate, effective July 3, 2025.
This decision follows a proposal published on May 2 here.
Platts will launch a single number close value with standardized high and low ranges for the UAN FOB Baltic and AN FOB Baltic assessments. Platts will also narrow specifications such as quantity, basis and location for the assessments, to better reflect changes in trade flows, as evidenced by market feedback.

Simultaneously, Platts will change the specifications of the existing AN FOB Baltic/Black Sea range assessment (FANBA00 ) so they align with those of the above mentioned AN FOB Baltic and AN FOB Black Sea assessments.
The weekly FOB Baltic/Black Sea AN assessment is currently published as a range with a low and high value. Following these changes, the low and high of the existing AN FOB Baltic/ Black Sea will now be derived from the highest and lowest of the following three assessments: the above proposed new single-number assessment for AN FOB Baltic and the high or low of the AN FOB Black Sea range (FANBB04) . No new market information will be considered for the assessment of the range.
Please refer to the subscriber note proposing recent changes to the AN FOB Black Sea range here.
All the above assessments appear under respective symbols in the Nitrogen Fertilizer report, Platts Connect, and the Platts price database.
