As previously announced, Platts acquired the Steel Business Briefing Group (SBB) and The Steel Index (TSI) in mid-2011. Effective July 2, 2012 Platts will significantly enhance its Market Data metals services by offering two new data packages containing Platts SBB and TSI assessments, as well as expanded metals data from a variety of third-party sources.
The new metals data packages include over 700 new and redefined market data symbols, designed to better reflect the expanded metals content Platts now has to offer:
* A new 'Steel and Raw Materials' package, containing a wealth of additional data, including metallurgical coal and iron ore benchmark data as well as expanded raw materials and steel products data. This new package replaces the existing FA (steel and ferroalloys) package.
* A greatly expanded 'Platts Metals' package, which combines the data in the Steel and Raw Materials' package with expanded Platts and third-party non-ferrous metals data. For more detailed information on the new packages, click on the following link, or copy and paste it into your web browser: http://plts.co/Metals21May12
Effective July 2, existing subscribers to the current FA and Platts Metals packages will automatically be permissioned for the data categories in the new package corresponding to their current one.
We invite your questions, comments and feedback. Please e-mail Joe Innace, editorial director, at joseph_innace@platts.com, or Junaid Khawaja, global metals marketing manager at Junaid_khawaja@platts.com.
