Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to refine the specifications for four US Granular Urea price assessments in the US, and increase their publication frequency, effective July 1, 2025.
The changes would provide a more detailed and up-to-date coverage of the domestic US market.
Firstly, Platts proposes to rename its current assessment Urea FOB Tulsa OK (FUREJ04) to Urea FOB Inola OK, given that most consistent trading activity is reported basis Inola. The current assessment considers discharging ports in both Tulsa and Inola, but the assessment would reflect Inola as the basis location.
Platts would also refine the specifications of its current assessment FOB Twin Cities MN (FUREA04) to reflect St. Paul, which would serve as the basis location, rather than reflecting both Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Platts also proposes changing the FOB assessments for Inola ( FUREJ04), St Paul ( FUREA04 ), St. Louis (FUREI04), and Cincinnati (FURED04) to FOT (Free on Truck), following market analysis and feedback.
Platts also proposes changing the volumes reflected by the assessments to 25-250 st, from a minimum of 1,500 st.
Platts also proposes changing the timing of these four assessments. The specifications currently described as "Product to be shipped up to 30 days forward" would be updated to "Loading from 1 to 30 days."
Finally, Platts proposes to increase the publication frequency to daily, published from Monday to Friday.
