Platts proposes to change ACCU, NZU MOC timestamps

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to change the market on close timestamps for its Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) and New Zealand Unit (NZU) assessments to better align with the concentration of market liquidity, effective July 22, 2024.

For ACCUs, the timestamp would move to 1630 Melbourne/Sydney/Canberra time, from 1930 at present, in order to align with local market trading hours.

Platts also proposes to change the MOC timestamp for its NZU assessment to 1830 Auckland/Wellington/Christchurch time, from 1930 at present.

Platts understands that multiple ACCU market participants are also active in NZU market and a similar Platts Market on Close assessment process time would bring more transparency to the market.

The change in timestamp would affect the following ACCU assessments:

Assessment Daily Code Monthly Code Currency
ACCU Generic ACCGA00 ACCGA03 AUD
ACCU HIR ACCHA00 ACCHA03 AUD
ACCU Generic No AD Differential ACGAD00 ACGAD03 AUD
ACCU Environmental Plantings ACCEP00 ACCEP03 AUD
ACCU Savanna Fire Management Indigenous ACSFI00 ACCEP03 AUD
ACCU Savanna Fire Management Non-indigenous ACSFI00 ACSNI03 AUD

The change in timestamp would affect the following NZU assessment:

Assessment Daily Code Monthly Code Currency
NZU ANZUA00 ANZUA03 NZD

These assessments are published in the Platts Carbon Markets Daily, on Platts Carbon Markets Alert and Energy Transition Alert, and in the Platts Pricing Database under the market data category ACM.
