Platts to change European styrene butadiene rubber location specifications

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will narrow the location reflected in its FOB NWE SBR spot assessments to reflect all major Northwest European ports, basis Rotterdam, and no longer include Italy and Spain, effective June 17, 2022, to better reflect standard market practices.

Following the change, price indications for Italy and Spain may still be taken into consideration and normalized to Rotterdam basis in the assessment process.

Platts proposed the change on April 21 in a subscriber note available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/042122-s-p-global-proposes-changes-to-european-styrene-butadiene-rubber-location-specifications.

The proposed location changes will affect the following assessments:

SBR: FOB NWE: AAWXB00, AAWXD00, AAWXF00, AAWXH00, AAWXJ00

Platts SBR assessments are published on Platts Petrochemical Alert pages PCA 752, 754, as well as in Olefinscan, Platts Platform, Platts Market Center and in Platts price database.
