Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has amended the price basis for two European liquid sulfur contract assessments: Liquid Sulfur CPT Dlvd Benelux $/mt Qtly (FLDBA04) and Liquid Sulfur CPT NWE $/mt Qtly (FLNEA04). These amendments are effective May 12.
The European liquid sulfur contract prices are negotiated between suppliers and consumers on a quarterly basis. Until now, according to its published methodology, Platts has assessed a new price range for the quarterly contract prices when a sufficient number of contracts have been agreed and confirmed by relevant market participants. The methodology has not stipulated a timeframe or limit on how long this process will take.
Following the amendments, Platts assesses the contract price at the latest by the end of the sixth week of the quarter based on the information received, prioritizing information with a higher degree of confirmation from relevant market sources. Platts will continue to assess the contract prices earlier in the quarter if the relevant market participants confirm the results of negotiations.
Both before and after these amendments to the methodology, these prices are representative assessments of the Delivered Benelux and Northwest Europe contract prices and not exhaustive summaries of all contract prices agreed by every buyer-seller pairing.
