Platts clarifies EMEA OX and PX contract price methodology

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, wishes to clarify the methodology wording for the EMEA orthoxylene and paraxylene industry-settled monthly contract prices.

Platts monthly contract prices are updated once there is sufficient information about industry-settled contract prices. In the case of a full settlement, which is defined as a settlement at the same level between at least two independent buyers and at least two independent sellers, a single value is published. If there is no full settlement, Platts publishes the range, representing the lowest settlement (low bate) and the highest settlement (high bate) heard from market participants, with an average of all price settlements, as per industry convention.

The following symbols are affected:

Platts Paraxylene NWE CP Eur/mt (AALHZ00)

Platts Paraxylene NWE CP $/mt (AALHZ10)

Platts Orthoxylene NWE CP Eur/mt (HPABJ00)

Platts Orthoxylene NWE CP $/mt (HPABJ10)

Platts Orthoxylene NWE CP Eur/mt Mavg (HPBFS03)

Platts Orthoxylene NWE CP $/mt Mavg (HPABJ13)

These contract prices are published on Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 332, 335, 375, 605, 444, of the real-time service, in Europe and Americas Petrochemicalscan, on the Petrochemicals Service on Platts Dimensions Pro and in the Platts price database under the above codes.
