S&P Global proposes to update basis location for White Rose crude cargo assessment

S&P Global Commodity Insights is proposing to change the basis location of its Platts White Rose crude cargo assessment to FOB Whiffen Head, Newfoundland, effective June 1, 2022.

The basis has been FOB Sea Rose terminal in Newfoundland, but market feedback and analysis of vessel loading data have indicated cargoes typically load from the Whiffen Head terminal.

Hibernia and Terra Nova, the other two Eastern Canadian cargo assessments, are assessed FOB Whiffen Head. Platts will launch a Hebron crude cargo assessment on June 1, 2022 that will also be FOB Whiffen Head.

The White Rose crude cargo symbols and other methodology, including delivery period and volume, would remain unchanged.
