SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts launches Lithium Carbonate CIF North Asia assessment

S&P Global Platts has launched a weekly Lithium Carbonate CIF North Asia assessment on May 4, 2018. The assessment is timestamped to 4:30 pm Singapore time, published Fridays. The launch of this assessment comes on the back of consistent and growing market demand for increased pricing information for the lithium carbonate market. The assessment reflects lithium carbonate with standard battery grade quality of minimum 99.5% lithium content. Other qualities are considered and normalized back to Platts base standard specification, subject to prevailing market differentials. All origins of lithium carbonate are taken into consideration in the assessment. Price points will be drawn from key importing ports in China, Japan and South Korea. Unit and currency of measurement is USD per metric ton. Payment terms are on a letter of credit basis. The delivery window under assessment is 15 to 60 days from the date of publication. Standard tonnage reflected in this assessment is 5-40 mt. The assessment is published on Platts Metals Alert page 8888 and in Metals Daily, and carries the code BATLC04 for the weekly assessment, BATLC03 for the monthly average and BATLC05 for the quarterly average.
