Following the discontinuation of its European emissions price assessments on Tuesday May 2, 2017, S&P Global Platts has updated its methodology for calculating European power clean dark and spark spreads, coal switching price indicators, and generating fuel cost comparisons to include daily EU Allowance (EUA) emissions futures settlement prices from the European Energy Exchange (EEX).
Effective May 2, EUA futures settlement prices from EEX have replaced the use of Platts OTC EUA emissions price assessments in those calculations.
Platts clean dark spreads are published in European Power Daily, in Coal Trader International, on European Power Alert pages EP0222 and EP0226, on Global Coal Alert pages GC0902 and GC0906 and in Platts Market Data category CI.
