S&P Global launches changes to Enerdata monthly natural gas indexes

Following a period of market feedback and review of existing Canadian Enerdata Ltd. natural gas pricing, S&P Global Platts has launched the following discontinuations, consolidations and additions to the Canadian Gas Price Reporter (CGPR) publication and monthly Enerdata indexes in market data category GM, effective May 1, 2020.

On this date, the parallel publishing period commences for both legacy Enerdata distribution and Platts distribution, culminating on June 1 when the final edition of the legacy Enerdata CGPR will be published.

Platts will make the following changes:

• Discontinue all CGPR Enerdata monthly indexes. These CGPR indices are currently composed of ICE NGX trade data and Enerdata price reporter non-ICE NGX trades. These are replaced by ICE NGX indexes or Platts indexes, where applicable. This change does not impact existing NGX contracts at Canadian and US border locations, which will continue to be published.
• Discontinue and consolidate various pricing tables on CGPR Monthly
• Add monthly NGX locations that are currently not published in existing Enerdata publications for complete record of NGX contracts

CGPR Monthly Discontinuations:

Following the conclusion of the parallel publishing period on June 1, 2020, the following pricing tables, and all subsequent prices and footnotes that are published in the monthly Canadian Gas Price Reporter publication will be discontinued:

• AECO One Month Spot Forward Prices
• Canadian Natural Gas Supply Prices
• Canadian Gas Utility Wacogs
• Domestic Natural Gas Burner-Tip Prices
• Provincial Gas Utility Burner-Tip Prices and Distribution Rates
• Domestic and Export Pipeline Transportation Tariffs
• Empress/NYMEX Differential
• Canadian Export and US Spot Gas Prices
• Natural Gas Price Forecast
• Empress Month Ahead Daily Index Price
• Canadian Natural Gas Derivative Prices
• Basis Differentials for One-Month Spot Gas
• AB-NIT (AECO) Monthly Prices, Union Dawn Monthly Basis and Spectra Station 2 Monthly Prices
• Canadian Natural Gas Option Prices

In addition, the following tables will be revised to remove historical and month to date values and will be consolidated to publish only the most recent monthly high, low, volume, and deal count values, where applicable:

• Alberta Natural Gas Reference Price
• ICE NGX Alberta Market Price
• Daily Exchange Rate

The following tables that include CGPR monthly US natural gas indexes will be discontinued and replaced with existing Platts preliminary monthly values in the Northeast, Upper Midwest and Rockies/Northwest:

• Canadian Export Price Indices
• Monthly Canadian and US Natural Gas Price Summary
• One-Month Spot Gas Price Indices

Locations in the above mentioned tables that correspond to an NGX contract will not be discontinued, but moved to a consolidated NGX monthly pricing table in the redesigned Platts CGPR Monthly publication.

The following daily price tables will no longer be published in CGPR Monthly, but will solely be published on Enerdata.com on a daily cadence:

• Daily Spot Gas Price at Empress
• Day Ahead Gas Price at Station 2, B.C.
• Daily Spot Gas Price at TransGas Energy Pool (TEP)
• ICE NGX Spectra Station 2 Same Day Index
• ICE NGX AB-NIT Day Ahead Index
• ICE NGX Union Dawn Day Ahead Index
• Day Ahead Spot Price at Sumas
• ICE NGX TCPL-Emerson 1 Day Ahead
• ICE NGX TCPL/TCPL-Empress Transport Day Ahead Index
• ICE NGX Union Dawn-/Enbridge CDA Transport Day Ahead Index
• ICE NGX TCPL-Iroquois Day Ahead Index
• ICE NGX TCPL-Emerson 2 Day Ahead Index
• ICE NGX TCPL-St. Clair/Union-Dawn Day Ahead Index
• ICE NGX Union-Dawn/Parkway Transport Day Ahead Index
• ICE NGX APC-ATP 5a Day Ahead Index

The ICE NGX AB-NIT Same Day 1-5 and ICE NGX AB-NIT Month Ahead 7a daily tables on Enerdata.com will continue to publish a table including the entire month's values in CGPR Monthly.

NGX Contract Additions:

In addition to the existing ICE NGX indexes published in CGPR Monthly, Platts will publish the following Near Month ICE NGX indexes beginning May 1, 2020:

• ICE NGX Spectra Huntingdon Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Chippawa Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-East Hereford Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Emerson 1 Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Emerson 2 Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Enbridge CDA Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Enbridge EDA Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Energir CDA Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Iroquois Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Niagara Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-St. Clair Near Month
• ICE NGX TCPL-Suffield 2 Near Month
• ICE NGX TransGas Energy Pool Near Month
• ICE NGX Union-Dawn Near Month
• ICE NGX Union-Parkway Near Month

The above indexes will no longer include submitted bilateral transactional information by market participants.

In addition to the above changes to the existing Enerdata monthly prices, the CGPR Month Index Summary will no longer be published as a separate file after June 1, 2020. The CGPR monthly has been redesigned to effectively incorporate the monthly summary into the monthly report.
