Following industry feedback, S&P Global Platts has discontinued its UK Continent/Mediterranean container freight assessments, effective May 1, 2018.
Platts first proposed these discontinuations in a note published March 22 (https://www.platts.com/subscriber-notes-details/27938137).
Platts understands that these container routes lack spot rate volatility and are not considered key for most container market participants.
The affected assessments were: Route From To Symbol PBR7 UK Continent to Mediterranean PBR0700 PBR8 Mediterranean to UK Continent PBR0800
These assessments were published in Platts Dry Freight Wire, Platts Global Alert service on fixed page PGA 3950 and in the Platts database under the symbols listed above.
Following the discontinuation, the Platts Container Index from May 1, 2018 no longer includes PBR7 or PBR8 and is based upon a weighted average of the remaining 12 spot container routes that Platts assesses.
