SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes revising DES West India assessment

Platts is extending feedback on a proposal to introduce new LNG price assessments for DES West India on June 16, 2017.

Platts currently publishes a single front-month DES West India assessment matching the JKM marker front-month delivery period, with the DES West India (AARXS00) rolling to a new month on the 16th of the month.

Platts is proposing to introduce a total of five half-month assessments for DES West India. Four of the half-months will match the delivery periods of Platts JKM assessments, with the fifth half month introduced immediately preceding the first half month. The current monthly assessment for DES West India (AARXS00) will be based on the average of the two half months that match the JKM delivery month period.

Platts had earlier proposed the introduction of an additional monthly assessment to be based on the average of the two half months that match the full month of assessment, but is now proposing to maintain one monthly assessment, with the DES West India (AARXS00) monthly assessment continuing to match the JKM delivery month period. For example, from February 16-28, the JKM half months assessed are H2 March, H1 April, H2 April and H1 May. Under the proposed DES West India assessment, the DES West India half months assessed will be H1 March, H2 March, H1 April, H2 April and H1 May. The monthly assessment for DES West India (AARXS00) will be for April.
