Platts to launch two daily recycled polystyrene assessments for Northwest Europe

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch two new daily spot recycled polystyrene assessments for Northwest Europe, in light of increasing consumer demand and interest in recycled plastic, effective May 3, 2023.

The new assessments will be published in Eur/mt on a daily basis and will reflect the following specifications:

Basis and Locations: Delivery duty paid Northwest Europe. Northwest Europe includes Germany, Benelux region, France and Switzerland. Pricing information from other regions may be taken into consideration for the assessment, subject to normalization.

Standard spot cargo size: Minimum 20 mt lots

Product Specifications: R-PS black pellets are non-odorless, non-food-grade, with a melt flow index (MFI) of 4.0-8.0g/10 minutes tested at 200 degrees Celsius, with a density of 1.04-1.07g/cm3. Pellets should have at least 30% HIPS and do not include any EPS.

R-PS black pellets: Black pellets.

R-PS grey pellets: Grey and whitish-grey pellets which do not contain black, white, or colored grades.

Delivery: 3-30 days forward

The assessments will reflect the spot value of recycled polystyrene at 16.30 pm London time.

The assessment will follow the London publication schedule. The weekly average will be published every Wednesday.

The assessments will be published on Petrochemical Alert on pages PCA0385, PCA0386, PCA0503, PCA0574, PCA0441 in Platts price database, on Platts Market Center, on Platts Dimensions Pro and in Polymerscan under the symbols listed above.
