About Commodity Insights

To increase market transparency of ammonia and expand access to its price data, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has decided, after a period of consultation, to launch two new daily ammonia prices in its Fertecon publications, effective May 15, 2023.
In light of growing liquidity in Mediterranean ammonia markets, Platts will launch a daily assessment of Ammonia CFR Med Region cargoes. This assessment will appear in the Fertecon Ammonia Daily publication. Details of the assessment are as follows:
Ammonia CFR Med Region
Quality: Anhydrous ammonia, which is around 82% Nitrogen and is stored and transported as a liquid under pressure at around minus 33 degrees Celsius.
Quantity: 5,000-15,000 mt
Basis and location: Spot; CFR Mediterranean, basis Turkey (assessment excludes Spain/Portugal, but includes all relevant marine ports in Morocco, Tunisia, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Bulgaria)
Timing: Product to be loaded one-six week forward.
Frequency: Daily
Unit of assessment: $/mt
To provide subscribers with access to the full suite of Platts Energy Transition European grey ammonia prices, Platts will also launch a daily assessment of Ammonia FOB Black Sea daily cargoes.
The existing Ammonia FOB Black Sea $/mt (AMMOG00) assessment published on Platts Energy Transition Service will match the new assessment in Fertecon publications. Details of the assessment are as follows:
Ammonia FOB Black Sea
Quality: Anhydrous ammonia, which is around 82% Nitrogen and is stored and transported as a liquid under pressure at around minus 33C.
Quantity: 5,000-15,000 mt
Basis and location: Spot. FOB Black Sea
Timing: Product to be loaded one-six week forward.
Frequency: Daily
Unit of assessment: $/mt
Platts originally proposed the launch of the two new assessments on March 31 in a subscriber note available at https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/033123-platts-proposes-launch-of-further-european-ammonia-assessments
