Following a period of industry consultation and feedback, Platts confirms it will launch a new Supramax dry bulk freight assessment reflecting the trade route of limestone from Persian Gulf to India.
The new assessment will reflect the growing spot fixture activity basis loading at Mina Saqr, UAE, as Indian limestone consumers increase their requirements from the Persian Gulf.
The assessment will be based on modern Supramax dry bulk tonnage reflecting the route from Mina Saqr, UAE, to Paradip, East Coast India, for a Supramax vessel carrying a limestone cargo of 50,000 mt (plus/minus 10%). The assessment will also include freight differentials to loading in Salalah, Oman, and discharging in Chennai, East Coast India. The assessment will be published on a $/mt basis.
Platts will launch the assessment on June 1, 2016. These assessments will be published in the Platts Dry Freight Wire.
Any further feedback or questions should be directed to shipping@platts.com and pricegroup@platts.com.
