Platts harmonizes SBB flat-rolled assessments

Platts proposes to continue to integrate and harmonize the price assessment process for Steel Business Briefing and Platts for European flat-rolled steel price assessments published in SBB and accessible on the Price Analyzer.

Clearly defined and transparent methodologies are the backbone of the Platts price-assessment processes.

Platts is seeking feedback by April 27 on a proposal that SBB will adopt on May 1, the existing methodology for assessments listed below, while enhancing the existing SBB price assessments with "method statements" re-defining their scope and publishing frequency, also listed below. This harmonization of Platts and SBB methodology does not apply to any prices that The Steel Index (TSI) publishes.

At the same time, Platts is proposing to change the basis for the daily assessment of hot-rolled coil (STHRE00) and cold-rolled coil (STRRE00) prices currently assessed ex-works (EXW) Ruhr to a delivered duty paid price basis (DDP) effective June 1. These assessments will continue to be published in SBB Steel Markets Daily, Platts Metals Alert and Market Data, in addition to the Briefing and through the Price Analyzer.
