Platts launches CFR Med caustic soda spot price assessment

S&P Global Platts has launched a weekly spot price assessment for CFR Mediterranean caustic soda, effective Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

The assessment was first proposed on February 11, 2020, in a subscriber note available here: http://plts.co/hmVK30qtPtf

The assessment was confirmed on March 3, 2020, in a subscriber note available here: http://plts.co/Foac30qtPtw

The CFR Mediterranean assessment in $/dmt takes into account delivery to ports in Italy, Spain and Greece for volumes from a minimum cargo size of 2,000 dry metric tons. The delivery period is 3 to 30 days from the date of publication.

The product specification reflects caustic soda solution 50% commercial grade from either the membrane or diaphragm cell production process. The assessment takes into consideration price information gathered up to the close of the assessment process at 4.30pm Tuesday London time.

The new assessment appears in Solventswire, on Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 243, 380 and 391, and in the Platts price database under the following codes:

ACSMA04 Caustic Soda CFR Mediterranean $/DMT Wkly
