Platts discontinues European caustic soda contract price assessment

S&P Global Platts has discontinued its European caustic soda contract price assessment, effective Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

The discontinuation reflects a widening disconnect between spot and contract prices. Platts has also observed reduced transparency of outright value indications for the contract price.

Platts continues to publish its European caustic soda export spot price assessment and has launched a new CFR Med import assessment.

The contract price assessment will no longer appear in Solventswire or on Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 243, 380 and 391, and will no longer update in the Platts price database.
