SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes discontinuing CAPP Barge price

S&P Global Platts is proposing to discontinue its daily US CAPP Barge OTC coal price and its related assessments to better align its assessments with the physical market.

While CAPP barge (12,000 Btu/lb) coal continues to exist, liquidity in the over-the-counter market has significantly declined in the past year.

Platts will continue to assess CAPP Barge coal on a weekly basis, which publishes Fridays.

The proposed discontinuation would take effect September 26. The assessments publish in Coal Trader as well as Global Coal Alert Page 200 (Market Data category CO), and would affect the following codes:

Platts Daily Physical OTC Assessments: CTNM001, CTNQ001 OTC Broker Index: CTIBM001, CTIM001, CTNAN03, CTIBQ01, CTIQ001, CTNAN05 Platts Final Monthly Averages: CTNOM01
