S&P Global Commodity Insights will discontinue weekly cost and freight, or CFR, Russia polyethylene and polypropylene spot assessments, effective July 6, 2022, in light of changed trade flows.
S&P Global understands Russia has become a net exporter of PE and increased its net exports of PP, and CFR assessments no longer reflect prevailing trade flows in these markets.
S&P Global proposed the discontinuation of the assessments on March 16, 2022, in a subscriber note available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodity-insights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/031622-s-p-global-proposes-to-discontinue-cfr-russia-polyethylene-polypropylene-assessments
The discontinuation will affect the following codes:
HDPE B/Mldg CFR Russia AAUMV00 AAUMV03
HDPE Film CFR Russia AAUMW00 AAUMW03
HDPE Inj CFR Russia AAUMU00 AAUMU03
LLDPE G-P CFR Russia AAUMT00 AAUMT03
LDPE G-P CFR Russia AAUMS00 AAUMS03
PP Homo injection CFR Russia AAUMX00 AAUMX03
PP Copol CFR Russia AAUMY00 AAUMY03
The affected assessments appear on Platts Petrochemical Alert fixed pages 0239, 0442 and 0280 on Platts Dimensions Pro and Platts Market Center, in Polymerscan and in the Platts database.
