Platts intends to introduce new spot polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene assessments for the North African markets beginning May 4, 2011.
In polyethylene, the following grades will be added: low density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low density C4 (LLDPE), high density polyethylene injection (HDPE inj), high density polyethylene blowmolding (HDPE bmldg), high density polyethylene film (HDPE film).
In polypropylene, the following grades will be assessed: polypropylene homo-polymer injection (PP homo inj), polypropylene raffia (PP raffia) and polypropylene co-polymer (PP copol).
In polystyrene, two grades will be added: polystyrene general purpose (GPPS) and polystyrene high impact (HIPS).
The assessments will reflect products for delivery basis CFR Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt main-ports. These assessments will be in $/mt and will denote spot transactions of 100-500 mt lots, for delivery 15-45 days forward from the date of publication with 60 days net payment terms.
Platts may normalize for assessment purposes those transactions, bids or offers that deviate from standard terms and conditions.
The assessments will be published on Platts realtime Petrochemical Alert as well as the weekly Polymerscan.
